Joan of Arc was a 17-year-old French maiden who rose to become the Commander in Chief of all France's armies and subsequently led them to a series of victories that turned the tide in the Hundred Years' War between England and France. Though tragically betrayed and martyred, she never lost her innocence or her unshakable faith in God and the heavenly voices guiding her. The Catholic Church cleared her name twenty-five years after her death paving the way for her eventual canonization.
