SESSION FULL: WE HOPE TO HAVE FUTURE WORKSHOPS WITH KATIE ! Cost: $25 Includes all materials, wine & cheese. LIMITED TO 15 PARTICIPANTS! Participants will be led through a step by step painting of each specific flower and their traditional name and symbolism. We will work together with watercolors, to paint these flowers into a bouquet that will serve as a visual reminder of the Blessed Mother. For centuries, specific flowers have been cherished as symbols of Mary’s virtues, joys, sorrows, and her place in salvation history. These flowers serve to remind us of Mary’s closeness to God. Knowing the symbolism behind these flowers can increase our faith and remind us to pray for Our Lady’s intercession. Creative pursuits can help you to explore the connection between beauty, truth, and our all loving God. “For from the greatness and beauty of created things comes a corresponding perception of their Creator.” Wisdom 13:5 And as St. JP2 said in his Letter to Artists “Beauty is a key to the mystery and a call to transcendence. It is an invitation to savour life and to dream of the future. That is why the beauty of created things can never fully satisfy. It stirs that hidden nostalgia for God which a lover of beauty like St. Augustine could express in incomparable terms: ‘Late have I loved you, beauty so old and so new: late have I loved you!’” Katie Bein is a self taught painter and stay at home wife and mom in Greenville, SC. She has a bachelor's degree in architecture and took up painting while her third child was a toddler. She especially loves storytelling, connection, and the search for beauty.
